The Savin Junipers or Junipers, is one of the oldest arboreal species on earth.

In Soria and Teruel, along with the tracks of the dinosaurs, fossil remains of junipers have been found. There are several explanations for this, but the one that is most striking is that it has developed an amazing capacity to take advantage of the absence or excess of water. The juniper can survive for several years with hardly any water. This is possible because it is able to slow down its growth as a function of rainfall. In the years when it barely rains, the juniper is limited to growing 0.1 millimetres per year. However, when there are years with water, then it grows as much as it can.
